
Subsequently, two of the women who participated in the investigation filed litigation in the San Diego Superior Court against the Zen Center and Mr. Bayda and presented a summary of the investigation’s findings to the ZCSD membership at the Zendo on November 2, 2019. After Faith Trust Institute delivered its findings and analysis to the Board, the Board dismissed Mr. Faith Trust Institute, at the board’s direction, invited everyone having an interest in the investigation to participate. In July 2019, the Board of Trustees received actual claims of sexual abuse by Ezra Bayda, and it immediately suspended him from teaching and retained Faith Trust Institute to undertake an independent investigation and analysis of the claims being presented. Update to ZCSD COVID-19 Policy for In-Person Attendance Effective 4.8.23, the Zen Center of San Diego has moved from a "mask required" to a "mask optional" policy for in-person attendance. This provides simple instructions about sitting and walking meditation, as well as general information about Zen philosophy and rituals. If you are a non-member and attend our sitting group at Annandale the fee is $10. When there is a non-residential retreat at Annandale ( Winter and Rohatsu) there will be no Monday night sitting there, but everyone is welcomed to book into the evening block.

There will be no sitting at our city zendo in Annandale on public holidays or when sesshins (retreats) are being held at our bush zendo, Kodoji (Autumn and Spring). Zoom zazen is offered Tuesday mornings (6.55am – 7.30am), and Thursday evenings (6.50pm – 8.30pm).Ĭovid safety measures for attendance at Annandale: Wearing a mask is optional in the dojo and at the teacher’s discretion when going to dokusan. We offer zazen at the Annandale zendo every Monday and Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm. On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and Tuesday mornings we offer seated meditation, or zazen as it is called in Zen Buddhism.
